The MEA India directly advised Indian citizens to avoid travel to Iran and Israel altogether “till further notice” due to “the prevailing situation in the region.” They strongly recommend not to travel to these countries.
The advisory most probably mentions the recent Israel-sponsored missile attack on the Iranian consulate in Syria, which Israel insistently accuses Israel of. This has escalated tensions between the two countries, raising concerns about the risk of a wider conflict.
Recommendations:
For those who plan to travel:
As travel to Iran and Israel is currently not advisable, it is recommended that you should postpone your trip if plan so.
For those already in Iran or Israel:
- The very first thing you would want to do is the Indian embassy registration in your respective country.
- Safety is a top priority; therefore, follow the instructions carefully, and only go outdoors for essential purposes.
Israel now stands on the verge of a direct attack from Iran, would it be Israeli southernmost regions, or north, in 24 or 48 hours according to the report in the Wall Street Journal? Iran has appointed its military officials to have a confidential dialogue on the matter and conclude if they decide to attack or not.
After that, the anxiety level soars as Iran points a finger at Israel, over an attack on a building used by its envoys in Damascus, Syria, which left top military officers of Iran dead, among them the Quds Force kind of Iran military elite officers.
US intelligence had warned earlier against the possibility of an Iranian or Iranian-proxy attack on Israeli property and amenities. Nevertheless, it is suspected that the hostility may intensify and target Israel along its borders. The American intelligence community is accusing Iran of a revenge strike that could be coming within the days and possibly on Israeli grounds according to the WSJ report. So it is strictly advised not to visit either Israel & Iran till further orders.
