Powerful winter storm hits Northeast, bringing travel hazards and flight cancellations

Winter storm hits Northeast

Big snowstorm surprised the Northeast! Some places got tons of snow, others not much. Someone died, cars crashed on icy roads, planes couldn't fly, schools closed or went online (though some had trouble online).

A big pile of light, fluffy snow (almost 40 cm!) fell on some parts of Pennsylvania and Connecticut, but in New York City's Central Park, there was only a little bit of wet, mushy snow (around 8 cm).

Instead of closing schools due to snow, New York City tried online learning for the first time. This upset many people, and then lots of kids couldn't even log in, making it even worse.
