Chinese airlines have started using Augmented Reality (AR) for in-flight entertainment, making them the first in the world to do so.

On February 7th at 10 a.m., passengers flying from Shenzhen to Xi'an got a special treat on Hainan Airlines flight HU7874. They experienced the world's first augmented reality (AR) in-flight adventure, thanks to a Chinese airline.

Starting from February 8th and lasting for more than a month, over 20 Hainan Airlines flights will offer passengers the Rokid AR Entertainment Kits. These kits come with a variety of 3D offline movies, giving travelers a new way to enjoy entertainment while flying. The goal of this project is to make passengers happy and improve their flight experience with the newest technology. To make sure everything goes smoothly and passengers have a good time, the Rokid team tested the devices extensively and picked out five of the latest movies suitable for viewing during the Lunar New Year.
