The violence in the Bahamas happened in a place called "Over the Hill" in Nassau. Even though the violence is worrying, Over the Hill has been known for a while to have problems with gang-related violence, according to Frank Comito, a consultant and former CEO and director general of the Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Association.
The Bahamas Tourism is in danger because too much bad news in the media can make a lot fewer people want to visit. For example, when there were big fires in part of Maui in August, many tourists decided not to go there. Even two months later, the amount of money tourists spent was about $100 million less than in October 2022.
