If you’re doubting which destination is best and more budget-friendly for you, read this article till the end to decide your next adventure spot. Below I have compared Argentina and Colombia in the light of various factors.

Argentina Vs Colombia in terms of Beauty:

In terms of beauty, both Argentina and Colombia present different, however, captivating landscapes.

Some of the most beautiful landscapes of South America are found in Argentina. In Los Glaciares National Park which is located in the southern region of Argentina – a province of Santa Cruz, you will love the awe-inspiring Perito Moreno Glacier which is a massive wall of ice that breaks into the turquoise glacial lakes.

South of it lies Ushuaia, the world’s southernmost city called The End of the World where tourists are welcome to Tierra del Fuego National Park which features mountainous landscapes, glaciers & wildlife including ducks, penguins, and guanacos.

I must say that Colombia has a mind-blowing variety of landscapes available.

You will see the beautiful Caribbean Sea with clear blue water in Colombia. The Amazon, a dense jungle in Colombia is rich in wildlife, and plant species that thrive within the region. This place is ideal for those who love nature and are interested in exploring the tropical rainforests.

The regions where coffee is grown in Colombia are famous for their beautiful landscape of lush green hills and lovely villages. This place not only offers beautiful views but also historical and cultural attractions including coffee farms and beautiful towns.

Llanos are extensive savannas and swampy regions located in the eastern region of Colombia and are characterized by their vast landscapes and rich fauna. This a place to see fauna and unique animals including capybaras, jaguars, and many types of birds.

In short, if you are an Adventure Seeker you may love Argentina and if you are Nature Enthusiasts then you should visit Colombia.

Argentina Vs Colombia in terms of Language & Culture:

The official language of Argentina is Spanish.

Argentine Spanish also known as Castellano differs from other Spanish dialects in several aspects such as its use of “voseo” rather than “tú” for second-person informal forms.  It also has a distinctive pronunciation called “Lunfardo,” which is derived from Italian and other immigrant languages. Tango, is one of the most globally renowned symbols of Argentine culture. This form of dance and music evolved from Buenos Aires in the late 19th century and is characterized by its passionate and dramatic movements.

It is a representative of Argentines and is celebrated worldwide.

Football is loved by Argentinians. The country has produced some of the world’s best players, like Diego Maradona and Lionel Messi.

The official language of Colombia is also Spanish. The coastal area speaks with a Caribbean accent while the Andean regions have more of a neutral accent. Indigenous languages like Wayuu and Quechua are also spoken in various communities. When it comes to music and dance, people associate Colombia with cumbia, vallenato, salsa, and reggaeton. Like any culture, music is an essential part of the country and celebrations are often marked by its music that is a fusion of diverse cultural groups.

Many joyous events are held in Colombia such as Carnaval de Barranquilla, Feria de las Flores in Medellín, Festival Vallenato, and so on. Such festivals highlight the spirit and the colorful characters of the Colombian people and their richness in terms of culture.

Argentina Vs Colombia in terms of Cuisine:

Argentina is famous for its beef-focused food. Popular dishes include asado (barbecue), empanadas (stuffed pastries), and milanesa (breaded meat). The country is also famous for its sweet dishes like dulce de leche (caramel spread) and alfajores (sweet cookies).

In Colombia, there is a variety of delicious cuisine. Common dishes are arepas (corn cakes), bandeja paisa (a filling meal with beans, rice, and meat), and sancocho (Puerto Rican Beef Stew). Colombian food also features tropical fruits and coffee, which shows the country’s rich regional variety.

Argentina Vs Colombia in terms of Cost:

Argentina is considered as 36% more expensive than Colombia, according to Expatistan. But this depends on someone’s spending habits.

In Argentina, accommodation especially in tourist areas, food, and transport are more costly than in Colombia. Tours & entrance fees are also more expensive in Argentina, especially for popular attractions like Iguazu Falls. On the other hand, public transportation in Colombia is often cheaper, and there are more free activities available. You can also find cheap street food in Colombia.

If you are a budget traveler, then your per day cost in Argentina will be $50 – $75 and in Colombia will be $30 – $50. It is just an estimate however per day cost depends on your expenses and activities.

Argentina Vs Colombia in terms of Climatic Conditions:

Argentina has different climatic conditions due to its huge geographical area. The northern area of the country has a tropical climate characterized by hot and wet summers, cool winters, and ample rainfall mainly in the northeastern. In the center part of the country, there is a warmer climate, and with very high temperatures during summer and cooler weather during the winter, moderate precipitation is experienced particularly in Pampas. The southern Patagonian region of Argentina is characterized by a cold and windy climate with severe winters and windy summers. The climate here also seems unpredictable, with frequent breezes and a relatively low amount of rainfall recorded.

Colombia, on the other hand, exhibits a relatively more standard climate because it is closer to the equator. The climate of the Caribbean coast is warm tropical all the year and high in humidity, and there are two rainy seasons. In the Andean region, the weather is mild and warm temperature with cooler nights and frequent rainfall throughout the year particularly from December to April. It is characterized by a hot and humid climate with high rainfall throughout the year, especially in the regions that extend from the Amazon rainforest to the Andean slopes, while the Pacific coast experiences high humidity and consistently hot weather.

Best time to visit Argentina & Colombia:

In Argentina, the best times to visit are during the shoulder seasons from September to November and March to May. During these months, the weather is pleasant, there are fewer tourists, and prices are reasonable. For visiting Patagonia, the summer months from December to February are ideal, but they can be quite crowded.

Colombia is a great destination year-round. The dry season from December to March is perfect for most areas but this is a peak tourist time. The shoulder seasons from April to November experience more rain, but you’ll find lower prices and fewer tourists.

ColombiaDecember – MarchDry season with pleasant weather

In short, Colombia is best for tropical beaches and Argentina is best for stunning landscapes.
