China introduced a new visa-free entry policy for Norwegian citizens in September 2024. According to this Norwegian citizens can now enter China without a visa for up to 15 days.
This decision was made during a meeting between Chinese President Xi Jinping & Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre in Beijing.
Prime Minister of Norway, Jonas Gahr Støre said that:
This will make it much easier for Norwegian businesses, students and others to travel to China. It facilitates more cooperation.
Norwegian citizens can stay in China for up to 15 days without visa requirements.
Visa-free entry is available for various purposes such as tourism, business tours, and family visits. However, it does not cover employment or long-term residency.
To be eligible for visa-free entry to China, Norwegian citizens must have a valid Norwegian passport with at least six months of validity.
While the people who want to visit China for more than 15 days still need a visa.
While China has removed the visa requirement for the citizens of Norway, Chinese citizens still need a visa to travel to the Schengen area.
