Because of the 78th independence celebration at Red Fort in India on 15 August 2024, the Delhi Traffic Police has issued some traffic restrictions around the area. The roads like Netaji Subhash Marg, Lothian Road, and Chandni Chowk Road will be closed from 4 AM to 10 AM for general traffic. Only vehicles with special permits will be allowed access during this time.
Delhi Traffic Police announced the road list that will remain closed on Independence Day.
- Lothian Road from GPO Delhi to Chatta Rail.
- Netaji Subhash Marg from Delhi Gate to Chatta Rail.
- SP Mukherjee Marg from HC Sen Marg to Yamuna Bazar Chowk.
- Nishad Raj Marg from Ring Road to Netaji Subhash Marg.
- Chandni Chowk Road from Fountain Chowk to Red Fort.
- Esplanade Road and its Link Road to Netaji Subhash Marg.
- Ring Road from Rajghat to ISBT.
- Outer ring Road from ISBT to IP Flyover i.e. Salimgarh Bypass.
Also for security and disciplining the activity, over 10,000 security personnel will be deployed in and around the Red Fort. Advanced CCTV analytics will be used to monitor the area, with features for detecting suspicious activities, such as unattended bags or unusual behavior. This extra security ensures everyone’s safety during the celebrations, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi will give his speech.
Travelers in Delhi, especially if they need to pass through central or northern parts of the city are advised to plan their routes accordingly to avoid delays.
